Producing mattresses for 15 years, Yildiz company maintains its sales in Istanbul and neighboring locations. Erol Yigit, general manager of the company, informed about their integrated production processes and about the plans for the year 2016.
When was Yildiz Yatak established?
We founded it in 2000. In those years, the sector was highly popular. I started by manufacturing bases and mattresses. We are now buying spring and quilt machinery to improve our services. We make about 1,200 mattresses monthly. It may go up to 1,500 when smaller ones are produced.
On production process
Production of mattress starts with springs. We made our springs in the production. After formed the springs are transferred to mattress section where padding are added. Then foams of latex or visco are covered and at the last stage quilted upper fabrics are mounted and stitched on the sides. Packing is the last stage of the production.
We have standard and upscale mattresses in product list, made of either latex or visco materials. Bonnell or Hercules springs are used. All materials are procured from domestic sources.
What are the recent developments in export markets?
Our first export was to Georgia but results were not good. Then we focused on domestic market. 90% of our mattresses are used in Istanbul area. Soon we start a new move in to export to a German customer.
How was the year 2015 for Yildiz company and what are your plans for the coming year?
Last year started good but not ended profitably. We were affected from currency fluctuations and uncertainties in the market. Next year will be better, we hope. 2015 was lost. We bought a land to build a factory in Arnavutkoy, Istanbul. We produce our products in this facility.
