Tel-Is trades mattresses on green line in Cyprus
Has been producing mattresses, bases, bedheads, and sofas in TRNC since 1990 Tel-Is Ltd. has become one of the leading companies in its field. A general distributor of Sertex brand in Cyprus, the company expanded its production facilities recently. Ahmet Kasapogulları, export sales manager of the company informed about his company and growth plans.
On history of the company and activities in mattress industry
Sırdas Matttresses is a company of Tel-Is Ltd. that was established in 1984 by Hasan and Sezen Kasapogulları as a family business in Lefkosa new organized industrial zone to produce hinges and garden fences. In 1998 the company assumed Sırdas brand name and began to produce mattresses, bases, bedheads, sitting groups and sofas. It is now a leading producer in Cyprus. In 2010 our company became general distributor of Sertex company for upholstery fabrics and leathers.
On production facilities and capacities
Started with six staff at the beginning the company maintained its growth in line with the Turkish Republic of Cyprus. Since 2006, our company has deals of trade over green line in the island and improving its quality standards since then. Now in the year 2015 we have 48 people employed and annual production capacity of 2,200 sqm.
On products and their characteristics
We mentioned above about the products we produce. We are still expanding our varieties. Since the climate in the island is generally hot, we prefer certain materials in our production in favor of cooling types.
On the characteristic of healthy mattress
First of all a healthy mattress is the one that provide comfort people in their sleeps. Then comes the hardness and softness ratio. People have different needs and preferences about this ratio. It is not always true to say that harder is the healthier. Soft products are not advised for the people having spinal sensitivities. The people have to decide on the best choice peculiar to them. A healthy mattress is completely ergonomic. Foams used in the product should be adaptable to the form and heat of the body. Materials should be anti-allergic and anti-bacterial.
On performance and plans of the brand in the sector
For us the year 2015 was good, because the volume of the market our share have also increased. In 2016 we aimed to maintain our position in the market and to reach a growth pace of 8 to 11 percent.
On export markets
We have 8 distributors and 45 wholesalers in the island at every region. We also sell our products to southern part of the island. Most of the raw materials are imported from mainland Turkey some are bought from the sellers in the island.
