SaloneSatellite and la Rinascente, for the third consecutive year, renew their shared effort to support young talents as they face the world of design. At the Design Supermarket of the Milan department store, from 6th October.
For the third time, they once again combine the strength of their belief in young people, with the aim of helping them channel their creativity and design abilities into the world of commerce.
By “they”, we mean on the one hand the SaloneSatellite, talent scout par excellence of young creativity which, during the Salone del Mobile.Milano, offers promising young designers under 35 international visibility and direct contact with manufacturers and professionals in the furnishing industry; on the other, la Rinascente, another important Milanese institution that showcases the latest design trends, the finest brands and the most interesting products of the moment.
Starting October 6th, the Design Supermarket of the Milanese department store, an impressive space and historic bastion of design (it was la Rinascente that instituted the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award in 1954, which by the way was won by the SaloneSatellite in 2014), will display and sell the products of the 6 young designers selected at the 2015 edition of the SaloneSatellite: Xuberance Studio (China), winner of the 2015 SaloneSatellite Award; KIMU LAB (Taiwan); Robert Van Embricqs (Netherlands); AMWA Designs (Great Britain); Francesco Fusillo (Italy) and Markus Johansson (Sweden).
The selection of products by la Rinascente was based on the their originality and their desire to leave a mark.
The diversity of the countries of origin of the 6 designers shows us new ways of working, contemporary reinterpretations of past styles by combining old and new objects, experimentation with materials and innovative techniques while keeping traditional values alive.
On display is a selection of lamps, vases, chairs and coffee tables, not to mention a wooden coffeemaker without a handle and a collection of fabrics and pillows that draw inspiration from Adinkra symbols and Ghanian proverbs.
Objects that combine the complexity of the industrial process with lightweight forms, the styles of the East with those of the West. Products characterized by a minimalist approach, which highlights the importance of the collaboration between designer and material. Pieces that evoke positive sensations and that give form to a feeling that improves our everyday lives.
