* Sleep segment in Hall 9 already was fully booked back in September.
* imm cologne furniture expo is good for the mattress industry also.
imm cologne is the most important trade fair for the furniture sector and also for the German and European mattress industries. As the first interiors show of the year IMM Cologne presents the trends that will be shaping the furniture and interiors sector – and the products that are good for business. At the imm cologne, you’ll find a unique variety of interior design ideas for every room, every style and every requirement – from the basics all the way to designer items and luxury furnishings.
Not only is the fair the industry get-together where trade visitors inform themselves about what’s new on the market, but on the days open to the public, the event also reaches interested consumers. Highly functional bed and mattress systems and scientifically obtained insights into the interplay of support and relief facilitate good sleep and physical relaxation, as consistently reflected in the modern products featured in the Sleep segment. Whilst all mattresses tend towards the unspectacular due to their uniformly white, rectangular appearance, closer inspection reveals that the mattresses and sleep systems, box-spring beds and waterbeds on show here are defined far more by their inner qualities, something shared by few other kinds of furniture. With innovations that are not readily noticeable at first sight, healthy lying comfort is continually evolving in order to achieve maximal adaptation to individual sleeping requirements. Sleep is the segment where these innovations are showcased. For this reason, it comes as no surprise that Hall 9 is already fully booked, well before the beginning of the fair.
The average German sleeps just over seven hours per night, meaning one spends more time in bed than on the sofa or cooking. Therefore it is with good reason that consumers invest in mattress and bed systems suited to their individual needs. This trend is clearly reflected in the number of applications to imm cologne, where mattress and bed manufacturers can reach both trade visitors and consumers. In addition to the renowned industry leaders, such as Tempur, Hilding Anders, Rummel Matratzen, Badenia, Diamona, F.A.N. Oschmann and Kreamat, many new exhibitors, among them Swissbedding, Saffron Beds and Gruppo Industriale Buoninfante will also be present on imm cologne. Recticel/Schlaraffia, Auping, Fey & Co., Profine and JOKA are making their way to imm cologne once more. As early as four months before the start of the fair, Arne Petersen, Vice President of Koelnmesse, had to announce that the event is fully booked. He explains the appeal of the affair with the following points: “Because of its international focus, imm cologne is a very interesting platform for many companies where they can establish contact with new customers as well as suppliers abroad. In addition, the fair is becoming more and more important for our exhibitors as its portfolio is clearly moving in the direction of the furniture segment”.
Located in the center of Hall 9, as every year, the German Trade Association of the Mattress Industry will be hosting the Sleep Lounge. The association’s director, Dr. Ulrich Leifeld, sees the lounge as an ideal complement to the exhibitors’ stands: “It is our goal to inform and not to sell, something the fair visitors appreciate. The Sleep Lounge therefore constitutes a kind of network. One meets with suppliers, customers and competitors to exchange ideas on neutral ground, so to speak. This promotes communication and provides for a good atmosphere”. The quality of the informative program, as well as the meet@sleep party on the Tuesday of the fair, serve as yet another draw for visitors. meet@sleep, already an established tradition, is the industry event at which manufacturers, suppliers and business owners can exchange ideas in an informal atmosphere.
From 18 to 24 January 2016, Cologne will be the trend barometer for the international furnishing world. Visitors and media may look forward to the many interesting companies and exciting product innovations.
