Established in 1970, Erdemoglu holding has now 15 companies including Merinos Furniture Co. which has been growing since 2004 as a furniture producer.
Feza Ciftci, general manager of Merinos Furniture, expressed his views and expectations for 2014.
On Merinos Furniture in brief
In our factory of 130 thousand sqm in Torbali, Izmir, we are producing all kinds of furniture including beds, coaches, panel furniture, sets for dining and youth rooms. Beds are important for us. We introduced new models especially to show in ISMOB fair. We can produce about 1800 beds in three shifts in a day. With the installation of the new machinery the capacity will be doubled.
Our main objective is to provide quality and comfortable sleep to people who live fast and in stress and sleep less and to prepare them to a new day refreshed and rested. We think that the beds that we introduced in ISMOB that were liked by the people will be a trend setter in the world markets.
On new collection of models
The collection contains ten new beds, having specific advantages. One of them is Ambiance, is made for neutralizing electric charges that people accumulated during the day. The tiny carbon fibers in the fabric and intense finishing, absorbs the electric charges and provide a deep and uninterrupted sleep.
The other is designed for keeping away the mosquitos during sleep period. With its anti-mosquito fabric, the No Fly Zone bed repels the harmful creatures and provide a quality sleep. The bed is made two sided. One side is made of concentrated bird feather and is for soft bed lovers, and other side is for hard bed lovers made of full orthopedic extra concentrated materials.
The third one is called Musica that were made with body fit technology and it has four zone for different parts of the human body. Shoulder and belly parts of the body are made more elastic and more resistant to shocks. Argan oil used in Musica, provides a softer and silky touch sense. Argan oil is rich in basic acids and vitamin E that humidify the skin.
On R&D activities for the new collection
We both pay great importance to our R&D team and research for bed production. Ten new models that were exhibited in the fair are developed in year long, last year. We imported or procured special fabrics from abroad, because we produced special beds.
On furniture exports
30 percent of our manufacturing goes to export markets. The ratio is ever growing year after year. We deliver almost all parts of the world. European and Middle Eastern markets top the list. Germany, Libya and Iraq are also important for us.
On performance of the company in 2013
This fair is especially important for furniture industry in Turkey. Participants both from abroad and from the country are increasing. Feedbacks of the fair are really remarkable. Up to 2013 Turkish companies were not flying high. As Merinos Group, we have reached our target, and rose our limits for 2014. We want to experience the same success that we realized in carpet business, in beds as well. Turkish furniture industry is growing steadily and shares of greater companies, who accounts for about one third of the market is also growing. Furniture industry in Turkey is becoming more and more powerful. Quality, trust and design are important in the success of the industry.
