“Everybody deserves to start the day rejuvenated. We have been producing quality beds for our customers to have this privilege since 1975,” says Ertan Ablak, General manager of Uyum company. He introduces his company:
On the progress of the company
It was established by two partners in 1974. In 1980 my father Sıtkı Ablak and later on we, my brother and I became partners. We have been producing in this facility of 1,150 sqm having a monthly capacity of 2000 beds since 2005. We are one of the two producers in Istanbul.
On products and their specifications
We targeted to mid and upper level of customers except top of the market. Spring and bonnel type of mattresses account most of our portfolio besides foam beds. We produce 11 different kinds of beds. Top level of our product is sold under Altingumus label. We are trying to develop new varieties. Special Uyum beds are made of hundred percent of natural cotton. Others are made of polyester and synthetic cotton mixtures.
On distribution channel for your products
We produce mainly for sellers in malls, besides we sell our beds to hotels of three to five starts as well. End users prefer Altinyildiz label products.
On procurement of inputs
Mostly we buy fabrics and other inputs such as felt and springs from domestic sellers who are located at Istanbul, Usak, Bursa and other cities. Sometimes we have made our special fabrics to them.
On new products
We develop three new products for ISMOB fair that is to be held at the end of Jan. 2014. We adjust some of our other products to suit better to the needs of customers. We used better and healthier materials in our other two products. They are made of special fabrics and are softer and healthier. We have also a product made of camel wool. We will exhibit them in the fair.
On exports and export markets
We aimed to domestic market. However, about 25 percent of our production was exported to some countries in Europe, Middle East and Turkish speaking countries. We have customers in Egypt, Palestine, Libya, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan as well.
How was the year 2013 and prospects for the 2014?
Last year was satisfactory for us, when the recession on export markets was taken into account. However, we are optimistic for 2014 because we aimed to increase the number of our distributors. Presently we have only 120. We hope positive results from the fairs. We may find new ways to reduce the cost of logistics and production in order to increase our competitive power in the market.
We also seek new markets and new opportunities for more business both in Turkey and in abroad.
