Opened by Kayseri Governor Orhan Duzgun and other high-ranking officials, the fair became a great venue for a broad range of products from bedding, salon sets, sofas, young and baby rooms to accessories, 22-26 April 2015 Kayseri, Turkey
K.MOB 2015 5th Kayseri Furniture Fair organized by Tüyap A.Ş. with the support and cooperation of Kayseri Chamber of Industry, Kayseri Chamber of Commerce, Kayseri Chambers of Merchants and Craftsmen Union, and Kayseri Chamber of Carpenters, Furniture Makers and Upholsterers, was held at the Kayseri World Trade Center, 22-26 April 2015. High-ranking officials attended the opening ceremony including Kayseri Governor Orhan Duzgun, Kayseri Chamber of Commerce Mahmut Hicyilmaz, Cooperative of Merchants and Craftsmen Chairman Mustafa Alan, Chamber of Merchants and Craftsmen Chairman Ahmet Övüç, borough masters, furniture manufacturers and invitees. Delivering a speech at the opening ceremony Kayseri Governor Orhan Duzgun said that the furniture sector was one of the locomotive industries of the city. “Marketing of the products is also crucial for trade. For that reason trade fairs offer excellent opportunities. Manufacturers find new fields for themselves to market their products and they make new business ties. It is also important to develop the trade of the region and the city,” the governor said. “We had witnessed during the agriculture fair staged last month that this fairground is not sufficient for the city. Works should be done for a new and wider fairground.” Governor Orhan Duzgun said one of their important projects was Mobilyakent which will collect almost 700 SMEs under one single roof. “They will continue their manufacturing on the one hand and they will display their products on the other. Mobilyakent will offer working atmosphere at places which have sound and strong infrastructure and the place will offer good opportunities for the consumers as finding a lot of alternatives at one place to source what they really need.” The governor also stressed that the sector needs better and more active R&D studies in order to compete at international markets. Speaking on his part at the opening ceremony Mahmut Hiçyılmaz, Chairman of Kayseri Chamber of Commerce, also stressed the fact that the furniture industry was the locomotive of Kayseri and that R&D studies should be given more priority and more attention. “In a survey we conducted last year we saw that Kayseri is not at the forefront in R&D studies. We are better in developing projects. That means we have scientific men to develop projects but we need to reinforce this with more R&D studies and more commercial production,” Hiçyılmaz said. Mahmut Alak, Chairman of Kayseri Furniture Industrialists’ Association (KAYMOS), also made a speech and promised that they would spare no efforts to develop Kayseri furniture industry but they wanted the Kayseri administrators to provide a better exhibition center. “We had organized a trade visit to Israel last month. We met Israeli manufacturers there. We invited them to Kayseri to promote their products with the promise that we would reimburse their expenses for the visit. They asked us how big our exhibition area was. We slid over the question by saying ‘it is big enough’ without mentioning any square meter. If we had mentioned the real size I am afraid they would refuse to come. If we can overcome this problem we will perform better,” Mahmut Alak stated.
